Air Supply

is made up of two musicians who sing soft rock and were very successful worldwide in the 1070's and 1980's. Air Supply was formed in !975 after the members met while performing in the Australian production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/ Tim Rice musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. They met in May and later in the year formed the band, Air Supply. The members were Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock. Graham was born in Sherwood, Notingham, England, and Russell was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Air Supply is considered the most successful Australian group of all time. Chrissie Hammond also joined the duo. After Hammond left the band, Jeremy Paul took her place. The groupís first hit single was Love and Other Bruises. The single was followed with their debut album, Air Supply. The album reached gold in Australia. The members then were Jeremy Paul, Adrian Scott (keyboard player and arranger), Jeff Browne (drummer), Mark McEntye (guitar player). Singles released at this time period were, Empty Pages and Do What You Do. The group was invited to do the opening act for Rod stuart while he was in Australia on tour and he was so impressed that he asked them to also tour with him in the United States. Jeremy Paul left the band during the tour.

Hitchcock and Russell began again in 1978 and they formed another band. This time it included, Frank Eesler-Smith, David Moyse, and Rex Goh, David Green, and Ralph Cooper. It was with this group that the most of their successful hits were recorded. In 1979, Air Supply released the album, Life Support. The album was recorded in a tiny Recording studio called, Trafalgar Studios in Sidney, Australia. The group released their next album, Lost In Love, in 1980 and there were 3 Top Five singles in the U. S. They were, All Out Of Love, Every Woman In the World, and Lost In Love. The album sold over 2 million copies in the United States. The next year they released the album, The One That You Love, and the title song was released as a single and it reached number 1 on the singles chart. In 1982 came the third album, Now & Forever.

The group released their first music video, Air Supply Live in Hawaii, in 1985. They had one major hit from it and several minor hits. They released a Christmas album in 1987. Russell Hitchcock released a self titled album but it was not a hit. His single, Swear To Your Heart, received a lot of airplay because it was used on the soundtrack and movie, Arachnophobia. The group recorded other albums and singles over the course of their career. They have released 44 albums, 16 singles, and 25 music videos.
