Bonnie Tyler

was born on June 8, 1951 in Skewen, Wales, United Kingdom. She is a pop rock singer with a very distinguishable husky voice. Bonnie released her first single, Lost In France, in 1976 and it reached the Top 10 on the charts. Following the single came her first album which was called, The World Starts Tonight. The album received moderate success. Bonnie went on tour through Europe to promote her album and the single from it called, More Than A Lover, reached the U. K. Top 30 chart. In 1977, Bonnie had to have surgery for nodules on her vocal cords and the results of the surgery caused her voice to sound raspy. Bonnieís next hit single was, Itís A Heartache, and it was taken from her second album called, Natural Force. The same song was also released by Juice Newton the same year in the United States, just a week before Bonnie released it. Juiceís version was a big hit in Mexico but only reached number 87 on the U. S. Pop chart. Bonnieís version hit number 3 on the United States chart and also became a hit worldwide. The song topped the charts in France and Australia and reached number 2 in Germany and number 4 in the U. K..Her Natural Force album was renamed, Itís A Heartache for the U. S. Market. Bonnie also had a Top 40 hit called, Married Men, in 1979. The song was the theme song for the movie, The World Is Full of Married men.

Bonnieís next two albums, Diamond Cut in 1979, and Goodbye to the Island in 1981, did not achieve much success. The track, Sitting On the Edge of the Ocean, taken from the album, Goodbye To the Island, was a hit in Tokyo and it was the Grand Prix winner of the 1979 Yahama World Song Festival.

Bonnie released 4 albums on the RCA label between 1977 and 1981, then she signed on with CBS Records in 1982. She released the album, Faster Than the Speed of Night, and from it came the single, Total Eclipse of the Heart. The song became number 1 in over 18 countries and it remained number 1 for 4 weeks. The album entered at number 1 on the U. K. Album chart and this made Bonnie the record holder for the first British female artist to ever enter an album on the U. K. Chart at number 1.

Bonnie went on to release other albums and singles and is still performing today. In 2007, she released the album, Bonnie Tyler Greatest Hits Collection called, From the heart. She has recently announced that she is going to record a new album with her friend, Jim Steinman.
