Escape Clubknown as The escape Club is based in London, England. The group was formed in 1983. The members consisted of Trevor Steel ( lead singer), John Holliday ( guitarist), Johnnie Christo (bass), and Milan Zekavica (drummer). The group played rock and Indie pop music. They were active from 1983 until 1992 and were signed up with the EMI label and Atlantic records. In 1986 they were signed with EMI records and recorded the album, White Fields and it was released in 1987. Later that same year the group signed with Atlantic Records and their next album was, Wild Wild West which was released in 1988. The single, Wild Wild west, from the album went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and the video for the song got a lot of airtime on MTV.
The group released two singles in 1989 from the Wild Wild West album. Those were, Shake For the Shiek, which climbed to number 28, and Walking Through Walls, which reached number 81. The Escape Club had a cover single of the Doorís ď 20th Century Fox.Ēon the Wonder Years. The music was from the Emmy Award winning show and itís era. It also received long airtime play on MTV. The song was produced by Ray Manzarek, according to reports from the bandís personal website. In 1990 the band recorder their last album, Dollars and Sex. It was released in March, 1991. The album featured the number 8 single, Iíll Be There. The group disbanded in 1992. This band was one of many who did not last for long but made their mark with what time they did perform. Their singles that were released were Wild Wild West (1988), Shake For the Shiek (1988), Walking Through Walls (1989), Call It Poison (1991), and Iíll Be There (1991).
There are many bands that came and went in the 1970's and 1980's. The Escape Club was no exception. While they had a few singles that hit the charts, the only number one hit that they had was Wild Wild West. Why the band broke up is yet to be determined.
