At the age of fourteen, Linda and her brother, Peter, and her sister, Suzy, formed a trio and called themselves The New Union Ramblers. They played around coffeehouses, fraternity houses, and small bars. At the age of 17, Linda decided to move to Los Angeles because she wanted to sing folk music and rock and roll instead of the bluegrass, country, Mexican, and folk music that her trio were singing. Bob Kimmel and Kenny Edwards joined Linda and together they wrote and recorded, So Fine for Curb records. The trio was discovered and they signed with Capitol records and Nick Venet. Linda was the lead singer. They recorded their first album in 1966. Linda began recording with Emmy Lou Harris and Dolly Parton in 1978. The album failed so it was put on hold for at least ten years. In 1987 the three tried it again and this time it was a big hit. It held the number 1 spot on the Billboard’s Country Albums Chart for 5 weeks and hit the top 10 on the pop chart too. They went on to reunite and make a Trio 2 album in 1999.

Linda had a relationship with Jerry brown, the Governor of California in the 1970's and this caused quite a stir. The papparazis ate this information up. Linda denied it for a while but somehow the proof was found and to keep from hindering the election for Jerry, she took a vacation in Africa. Political analysts argued that this move on Brown’s behalf could have hindered his 1980 Presidential nomination. No one will ever know. If it was meant to be, it would have happened. In the mid 1980's Linda became engaged to George Lucas, director of Star Wars. She tried to avoid the papparazis so she was never seen in public with him. Linda adopted two children and is a big fan of the Harry Potter novels.
