Mr. Mister

was an American pop rock band which was popular in the 1980's. The members of the band were Richard Page (vocalist and bass guitar player), Steve George (keyboard player), Pat Mastelotto (acoustic and electronic drum player), and Steve Farris (guitar player). Richard Page had previously worked with Quincy Jones, as a session musician. He had also written material for Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Kenny Loggins, Al Jarreau, and others. In the 1970's he and Steve George, who was a childhood friend, formed the band called, Pages, in Pheonix, Arizona. Their most popular song was, I Do Believe In You. They formed the band, Mr. Mister, in 1982. The two provided background vocal music for artists such as Laura Branigan and The Village People. They were also working on their own material at the same time.

The band released their first album called, I Wear the Face, in 1984. Their second album was released in 1985 and called, Welcome to the Real World. The lyrics were written by Page’s cousin, John Lang. The band had 3 Top 10 singles from this album and it was the break the band needed. Two of the three singles made it to number 1 on the charts. The band also had several number 1 MTV music Videos. They were nominated for a Grammy Award several times for Best Pop Band. The band toured with other popular musicians such as, Adam Ant, Eurythmics, The Bangles, Tina Turner, and Don Henley.

Steve Farris left the band in 1989 and was replaced with Buzz Feiten and a little later, Trevor Rabin. The band broke up after their fourth album was not released because the record label dropped them. The album still has never been released. After the band split up, Richard Page released a solo record and also a band record called, Third Matinee, in 1994. He also kept writing hit songs for other artists, one of which was a number one hit for Madonna. He released, Shelter Me, in 1996, which was his first solo album. Steve George worked as a musical director with Kenny Loggins and Jewel. Steve Farris went on to work with Rod Stewart, Whitesnake, Tori Amos, and 4 Non Blondes. Pat Mastelotto went on to record several hits with groups like, The Rembrandts, Jude Cole, Cock Robin, Martika, XTC, Robyn Hitchcock, The Sugarcubes, and others. Mastelotto has been a member of King Crimson since 1994. He has performed in thousands of live shows and on many Crimson records. He has produced and mixed the King Crimson Projects. He also has several projects on the side which include Mastica, TU, Turner, and KTU. The group has released a total of 4 albums and 6 singles under the name of Mr. Mister.
