The Romanticsis an American rock band which was formed in Detroit, Michigan. They chose their name, Romantics, because they formed the band on Valentineís Day, in 1977. The group became moderately popular in the 1980's, in the United States, Europe, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and parts of Asia. They released energetic songs and music videos. They were influenced by the British Invasion Rock of the 1960's, such as, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who, The Hollies, and the Rolling Stones. They play a pop punk style of music which was known as power pop. They are also put into the category of the New Wave style of music.
