Adam Ant
Although it wasn't until after he dumped his band of ants that Adam Ant had a hit in the U.S with Goody Two Shoes, it was songs like Stand and Deliver that scored Adam and the Ants a Best New Artist Grammy nomination. And, as is often the case in the '80s and '90s, the British had caught on to him long before we did. As great as the music was, Adam Ant was also a master in the use of the medium that was to give a face to pop music in the '80s, the music video. He was a staple of early MTV, playing a Prince Charming/Robin Hood character in such frantic, fun to watch videos as the Stand and Deliver clip. You won't see him or his contemporaries any more on MTV, as the channel is more guilty than most of turning its back on its own past. Adam Ant has continued to make music as well as get into legal disputes over the ownership of his songs. His Wonderful album definitely outshines the latest works of other early '80s acts, including Boy George's latest spin on an Iggy Pop song. Adam Ant has also made several stage appearances, as well as an appearance on Northern Exposure.
Try This For Sighs
I call round your house
I try on your phone but you cry
Leave me alone leave me alone
I like your face you dig my eyes
Come on now honey try this for sighs
And if a push comes to a shove
And we have to call it love then
Baby I'll do it
Baby I'll do it
I don't drive no rig
I don't need no car so you cry
Leave me alone leave me alone
I like your face you dig my eyes
Come on now honey try this for sighs
I don't want no lip
I can smell your lies when you cry
Leave me alone leave me alone
You like my face I dig your thighs
Scrap that honey try this for sighs
